{"id":541,"date":"2020-08-23T10:49:18","date_gmt":"2020-08-23T14:49:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/taylorpond.org\/?p=541"},"modified":"2020-08-29T18:01:30","modified_gmt":"2020-08-29T22:01:30","slug":"flooding-taylor-brook-bridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taylorpond.org\/?p=541","title":{"rendered":"FLOODING: TAYLOR BROOK BRIDGE"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2017, TPA commissioned an engineering study of water levels and flooding issues on Taylor Pond.\u00a0 The study concluded that removing obstructions to the free flow of Taylor Brook under Hotel Road and Stevens Mill Extension could reduce the chance of flooding on the pond.\u00a0 In 2019 Maine Department of Transportation (DOT) made plans to improve the Hotel Road culvert, but the project has been delayed (more than once) due to escalation of project costs. The project is currently in the DOT work plan for construction in 2021, an unfortunate delay.<br>The good news is, once done it will reduce the chance of flooding. Instead of a limited culvert, this will be a bridge that allows water to pass freely down and fish to swim upriver.\u00a0 Research shows this is better environmentally and cost wise.
